GTMaritime supporting the Sailors’ Society

Instead of sending out a physical card to wish our customers season’s greetings, it’s become a tradition here at GTMaritime that we donate to the Sailors’ Society. We’ve done the same again this year.

The Sailors’ Society is an international charity who work in ports across the world. They help seafarers and their families with welfare and practical support. Most importantly, they help crew get in touch with their loved ones; help with access to medical treatment; liaise with frightened families when seafarers are kidnapped by terrorists or imprisoned; and they help build homes and schools and provide grants to bring hope and security to seafaring communities.

This is a charity close to Robert Kenworthy, our CEO’s heart as an ex-mariner himself. Rob explains;

Having been to sea myself, I understand the feeling of isolation and loneliness felt by seafarers when away from loved ones for months on end, especially during holiday seasons. Apart from the desire they have to call home, the crew sometimes have personal issues that can have a profound effect on them and their work. The Sailors Society’ help in these situations and that’s why GTMaritime are proud to sponsor their hard work and dedication to the welfare of our crew members.

GTMaritime was built on core values that are similar to that of the Sailors’ Society. Rob recognised the importance of enabling essential communication at sea and built the company in 1998. Reflecting on his own experience, he wanted to ensure vessels and crew members were protected and felt safe and secure. He also wanted to ensure the experience they received was personally tailored.

We really appreciate all the efforts of the Sailors’ Society and want them to know that GTMaritime support all that they are doing.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year.
